HALEN / INSURANCE & TNC DISCLOSURE

Insurance &
TNC Disclosure.

How insurance works on Halen, what drivers should check before driving, and how to report an incident.

Transportation network company disclosure.

Before a driver is approved to provide services, Halen gives the driver a written disclosure of the types and limits of coverage Halen provides, whether Halen provides comprehensive and collision coverage, and notice that the driver’s personal auto policy might not provide coverage while logged on to the Halen app.

Why the driver’s activity matters.

01

Offline and not providing a Halen service

Drivers should rely on coverage for their personal or other vehicle use. Don’t assume a Halen-related policy covers an incident just because the driver has a Halen account.

02

Online and waiting for a request

Coverage for this period may differ from coverage after a ride is accepted. Drivers must understand which policy applies while they are available for requests.

03

Ride accepted and in progress

The ride period includes travel to pick up the passenger, not only time with the passenger in the vehicle.

When reporting an accident, say whether the driver was offline, waiting for a request, traveling to pickup, or transporting a passenger.

Important information for drivers.

Before providing services:

  • Tell your insurer or insurance agent how you plan to use the vehicle.
  • Review Halen’s written insurance disclosure and proof of coverage.
  • Confirm whether damage to your own vehicle is covered and what deductible applies.
  • Tell your lender, lessor, or rental provider about the intended use and get any required permission.
  • If you aren’t the vehicle owner or policyholder, make sure they receive the coverage information.
  • Keep the required proof of insurance available while providing service.

Don’t provide services if required coverage has expired, been canceled, or no longer covers the vehicle or its use.

Vehicle damage and other expenses.

Liability insurance and coverage for damage to your own vehicle are different. Don’t assume liability coverage pays for vehicle repairs, theft, a rental replacement, lost earnings, or mechanical breakdowns. Benefits, deductibles, and exclusions depend on the applicable policy.

Package delivery.

Passenger rideshare coverage is not proof that a delivery or its contents are insured. Vehicle liability, damage to the delivery vehicle, and loss of or damage to a package are separate coverage questions. Review the delivery terms before sending valuable items.

What to do after an accident.

01

Call 911

Call 911 if anyone is injured or there is an immediate hazard.

02

Get to safety

Move to a safe location if possible and follow emergency responders’ instructions.

03

Exchange information

Exchange the required driver, vehicle, and insurance information.

04

Record the details

Record the time, location, trip reference, and the driver’s app status.

05

Photos and witnesses

Take photos and collect witness information only when safe.

06

Notify promptly

Notify Halen and the relevant insurer promptly.

Drivers should also notify the vehicle owner and policyholder if they are different people, and their personal insurer when their policy requires it.

Understanding a claim.

Reporting an incident to Halen does not confirm coverage or replace any notice an insurer requires. The insurer evaluates coverage under the policy and applicable law.

This summary does not change any insurance policy or waive anyone’s legal rights.
